SFA Position Description 

Student Facility Assistants (SFAs) work year-round preparing the Residence Halls for students to occupy and after students vacate over winter and summer break upon availability. SFAs frequently respond to day-to-day maintenance requests such as but not exclusive to: Bed lofting and delofting, furniture replacement/repair, furniture disposal, lifting and moving furniture, delivering items from hall to hall, assisting with the set up and breakdown of housing events, cleaning, organizing and repairing rooms where necessary, and providing satisfactory customer service to students within the residence halls. 

Qualifications 

  • Must be a student in good standing with the University 
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 
  • Able to lift and move at least 50 pounds by self  

Duties and Responsibilities  

Specific responsibilities will be determined by the Associate Director of Facilities but typical responsibilities will include:  

  • Conducting furniture inventories 
  • Assembling and/or repairing furniture 
  • Inspecting property and submitting work orders regarding maintenance, furniture, or facility needs  
  • Bed lofting 
  • Moving, replacing, and/or disposal of furniture 
  • Auditing and organizing storage spaces  
  • Delivering items to halls 
  • Assisting with the set up and breakdown of housing events  
  • Assist in bin management 
  • Providing satisfactory customer service to students within the residence halls
