Keri Lynn Knight Crowned Miss Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø

VALDOSTA – Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø crowned Keri Lynn Knight, a senior business administration major from Uvalda, Ga., as the 2014 Miss Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø.

Knight received a $2,000 scholarship towards her Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø education and will have the honor of representing Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø at the Miss Georgia pageant in June 2014.  She also won the Interview Preliminary Award and the Talent Preliminary Award, receiving $200 per award.

Eight contestants competed in the Miss Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø pageant produced by Student Life and assisted by Pi Kappa Phi, a Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø fraternity.

Jackie Ladin, first runner-up received a $750 scholarship to Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø and Brooke Courie, second runner-up received a $500 scholarship. Other contestants included Dani Taylor, Amber Austin, Brittany Williams, Nadia Meghjani, and Lorraine Dawkins.

In 2008, the Miss Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø pageant was discontinued, even though it had been held for almost 50 years prior. In 2012, Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø decided to bring back the pageant, making this year its second year after the discontinuation.

Sponsors included Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Campus Activities Board, Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Student Government Association, Golden Key International Honour Society, Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Dining, Valdosta School of Ballet, Zeta Tau Alpha, Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Bookstore, Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Alumni Association, Post and Associates CPAs, Spirit Screen Printing and Embroidery, Zants Flower Shop, Flip Flops, and Demos Cams.
