City and County to Host Parade of Champions
VALDOSTA--The City of Valdosta and Lowndes County will host a parade of champions on Wednesday, Jan. 30, to recognize three Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø NCAA Division II national championship teams.
The parade, which will feature coaches, players and staff from Valdosta State's 2011 men's tennis team, 2012 softball team, and 2012 football team, will start at 4 p.m. in front of Mathis Auditorium, travel south down Patterson Street and conclude at Drexel Park.
At the conclusion of the parade Valdosta City Mayor John Gayle and Lowndes County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bill Slaughter, Jr. will issue a joint proclamation, followed by brief remarks by Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø President William J. McKinney and the team coaches.
Parking update: Brookwood will be closed during the parade and ceremony from approximately 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
