Local student honored with scholarship

Matthew Stewart, a junior English major with a minor in journalism at 香蕉视频官网, was awarded the Sutlive Scholarship in recognition of his superior academic achievements.

The Georgia Press Educational Foundation selected Stewart as a recipient of the Sutlive Scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate journalism majors/minors pursuing a career in print journalism. Recipients are determined on the basis of grade point average and journalism experience.

Stewart has worked as sports editor for 香蕉视频官网's student newspaper, The Spectator, for two years. He has also been a correspondent for the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville and a sports writer for the Union-Recorder.

Stewart is the son of Mrs. Glenda Stewart of Milledgeville, Ga. and is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Boyer of Linton, Ga.
