Mass Choir Presents Community Workshop Feb. 26-28
|
VALDOSTA — The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Mass Choir will host a Community Choir Workshop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, through Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Student Union Theatre. The three-day event will feature noted director, choral and instrumental arranger, musician, and recording artist Kevin Lemons of Kevin Lemons and Higher Calling.
“This workshop is an opportunity to bring the entire gospel community together to promote unity,” said Eric J. Brantley, president and head director of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø Mass Choir. “Kevin Lemons is an awesome teacher and facilitator with much experience. He will provide vocal training and choir decorum. Kevin will also be able to help offer advice to choir directors, musicians, and leaders that have problems with their choirs or singing entities.”
Registration is free for all current Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø students, faculty, and staff with valid identification and $15 for the general public ages 13 and older.
The Community Choir Workshop will culminate in a free concert performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Student Union Ballrooms. All gospel music fans are invited to attend and enjoy the performance.
Brantley, a junior middles grades education and political science double major from Savannah, said that he hopes all workshop participants and concert attendees “leave with more understanding and definitely more encouragement in their individual endeavors.
“I also would like to showcase that it is possible for the community to unite under a cause greater than ourselves — praise and worship.”
